SS26 ‘CARPATHIAN’

SS26 PFW SHOW NOTES:

This PFW presentation was an ode to my little brother who recently passed and an opportunity for me to build off of grief with the combination of sweet classical music and hard design. This is a continuation of many older themes and technical work that culminates into a 20 look show in Paris.

I have talked at length with multiple people about the contrast between the music and the clothing during my runways, often pointing to the fun nature of the subversion. Another part of it, often un-covered, is the fact that I like to view it through the way movies are made and scored. Sound design and scores are one of the most important aspects in setting the atmosphere for the audience and the emotions they should feel while experiencing what you’re offering. Which is why for the most recent show a live violinist made the most sense, along with a mirage of dancers, and an amazing singer. Essentially, I watch way too much movies and i want to replicate the immersion I get when watching good films.

Another fun part of the runway is often the obstructions I add to the presentation. Breaking the cohesiveness between every facet of the show. This presentation was no different, I requested the violinist to be in the middle of the runway almost blocking the path of the runway for models. What may seem to be a decision that ruins the walk is transformed into a metaphor. A little bit of chaos can bring a nice balance between the strict measures I often have in my process of curation and execution. This is a subtle reminder to myself to remember the enjoy-ability and fun within what I am doing by breaking my own strict codes. It should also be a reminder to others to enjoy life even with the obstacles and hardships presented. Whether you see it within the context of the show or not doesn’t matter, it’s ever present.

I have no further words to say but thank you to each and every person who’s helped me build to this. Life is undoubtedly hard, but perseverance and rebellion in the face of such trials and tribulations are the only way to move.
